Here is one from the great philosopher, Jimmy Buffett...
My father always said that there's no free ride
You've got to make a sacrifice
So many prophets on the lords side
Even your soul has got a price
But talk is cheap
It takes money to buy your freedom
And the tax mans knockin on your door
I find this to be so true. Seems today that everyone is out to get you. I got a call from an insurance adjuster today regarding an accident my wife was in last Friday night. She told me that they were totaling out my truck and would give me $8000.00 minus my deductible. Whoa, hold the phone, deductible??? My truck was rear ended, therefore I am paying no deductible, plus, my truck is worth twice that. Turns out she was with my insurance company. They were going to settle with me, then go after the person at faults insurance for reimbursement. But the same adjuster is handling both, isn't that a conflict of interest? I think so. I pretty much told her in no uncertain terms that I was not settling for that and that she needed to pursue the person that hit my truck.
I am sick of dealing with people that are trying to screw me. If its not my car insurance, its my homeowners insurance(Hurricane Ike). All year we pay these high premiums, but when it comes time to collect, they come up with some excuse to screw you. I am just sick of it and I am not putting up with it anymore. Even my medical insurance is useless. I found out it doesn't cover office visits or prescriptions. I would be better off putting that monthly bill into an IRA until it may be needed.
It is bad enough that customer service no longer exists anymore, but when you pay for a service and then find out it is not worth it, it is just disgusting. So......
Spend it while you can
Moneys contraband
You cant take it with you when you go
Spend it while you can
Before its taken from your hand
There's no free ride in this carnival world
There's no free ride in this carnival world

Heroes and Friends
Your heroes will help you find good in yourself
Your friends wont forsake you for somebody else.
Theyll both stand beside you thru thick and thru thin
And thats how it goes with heroes and friends
I have been pretty bummed out all day. I got some sad news this morning that an old friend passed away yesterday. Mr. Bolt lost a very long battle with cancer. Mr. Bolt and his son Lee gave me my first construction job when I moved back to Texas. They took a chance on a young kid wanting to learn, moulded me, and set me on the course to where I am today.
Mr. Bolt was an inspiration. Even into his eighties, he would work out in the yard everyday. Cutting grass, pulling weeds, repairing sprinklers, and of course, telling old war stories to anyone who would listen. He was a Purple Heart recipient and a true businessman who believed in honesty and fairness.
I will truly miss you my friend.
Years have gone by but now and again
My heart rides the range with my heroes and friends
your memory will always be... on this cowboys mind
In Loving Memory of Dillard Bolt

9,999,999 Tears
I was listening to this old country song on my new Ipod the other day.
The sun didn't shine this morning
It's been raining the whole day through
Suddenly without warning
You found somebody new
That's when the first tear came
Falling from my eyes
I'm beginning to feel the pain
Seeing nothing but clouds in the sky
Got 9,999,999 tears to go
And then I don't know if I'll be over you
Will I be over you
I have heard the expression "cry me a river", and 10 million tears could very well produce a river. Its hard to imagine 10 million of anything, be it tears, people, or even dollars. What could 10 million dollars buy you? Better yet what could 1 trillion dollars buy you? I guess our new president can imagine it. This new 1 trillion dollar stimulus bill is nothing more than a payback to the organizations that got Mr. Obama elected. If you don't believe me, just look up the bill and see for yourself. Mass spending by the government does not stimulate the economy. You must put money back into the hands of the taxpayers, for we are the ones that keep the economy going. How in the world will we ever pay back a trillion dollar loan?
Do you realize that if Christopher Columbus had 1 trillion dollars in hand when he discovered America, and spent 4 million each day, he would still have money left as of right now? We cant afford to mortgage future generations.
The borrower is slave to the lender.
My heart goes out to those that have lost their jobs in this economy, but the only way to solve this problem is tax cuts. It is time to hold Washington accountable. I just pray it is not too late.
...those are the thoughts... on this cowboys mind.
