Jimmy Buffett songs have some of the best lyrics...
Lots of new friends with the same old problems
Open your eyes you might see
If our lives were that simple
We'd live in the past
If the phone doesn't ring
It's me
Each night my wife and I lay with our daughter and say the Lord's Prayer together. It has become a ritual for us, and afterwards we bring up any concerns to lift up in prayer. As we said Amen tonight, my daughter said, "Wait, I have to push send. OK, now God received it." As if our prayer was an email. Then she asked, " I wonder what kind of phone God has. I wish I could text him. That would be so cool."
All night I have thought about her remark and how sweet and yet brilliant it was. However, we can text and phone God, it's called prayer, and it doesn't require the newest model of the iphone to do it. Too many times we try to solve our problems ourselves and forget to pick up the "phone" and send a call or text to God. God knows what we need, but maybe He is just waiting for us to put our egos aside and ask for help.
If the phone doesn't ring
You'll know that it's me
I'll be out in the eye of the storm
If the phone doesn't ring
You know that I'll be
Where someone can make me feel warm
I have seen what the power of prayer can do. Yet even for me, I still forget to pick up the "phone". Far too often, God's phone doesn't ring, and it's me.
If it takes all the future
We'll live through the past
If the phone doesn't ring
It's me
Putting God's number on speed dial is... on this cowboys mind

Lives In The Balance
Will somebody please tell President Teleprompter to stop apologizing to the world for the United States. We are not the bad guys.
I want to know who the man behind the teleprompter is. Just who is pulling Obama's strings and why the secrecy? We are all being played by Washington and are on the road to Socialism. President Obama has become a modern day Karl Marx. Most of the country does not see it because they are too worried about the unemployment rate, the ARM on their homes, or who will be voted off of American Idol next.
I think members of Congress should be required to wear uniforms just like NASCAR drivers, so we identify their corporate sponsors.
We have a very serious problem here and no amount of "feel good talk" from our so called leader is going to make it go away. We are going to be paying for this for a very long time.
They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But theyre never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire
remembering that there are lives in the balance is... on this cowboys mind
